SGA now drilling its second graphite project.
Our 2022 Next Investors Small Cap Pick of the Year Sarytogan Graphite (ASX: SGA) just kicked off a drill program at its graphite exploration project in Kazakhstan.
SGA has two project in Khazakhstan:
- The Sarytogan Graphite project - Highest grade, second biggest graphite project on the ASX in terms of contained graphite. (Pre Feasibility Study stage)
- The Kenesar Graphite project - early stage exploration project.
Today, SGA began a 4,000m aircore drill program at the earlier stage Kenesar project.
The ultimate aim for the new project is less about trying to add more graphite resources to SGA’s resource base and more about diversifying the type of graphite SGA is able to produce.
What’s next for SGA:
The key catalyst we are looking out for is the ongoing metwork 🔄
SGA continues to work with its processing partners to achieve the required Uncoated Spherical Graphite (USpG) specifications of 99.95% purity in spherical graphite balls of 5-20 microns in size.
SGA has already achieved 99.87% but is chasing that all-important 99.95%+ purity level.
Achieving these specifications will be key to accessing the battery anode market with a high priced spherical graphite product.
We think that this will be the major catalyst for SGA and the final step validating SGA’s giant resource as suitable for use in the lithium ion battery industry.
At the moment SGA is running a bulk flotation program which will then feed into the spheroidization program in Q3-2023 ahead of battery performance tests in Q4 2023.
